1997. Central and West European willow-feeding jumping plant-lice of the genus
Cacopsylla (Hemiptera: Psylloidea). Entomol. Probl. 28 (2): 81-94.
Cacopsylla perrieri sp.nov. is described and illustrated from Southern France and differences
to closely related species are discussed. Intraspecific variation in paramere morphology is described
and illustrated for C. perrieri, C. saliceti and C. moscovita. A neotype is
designated for Psylla salicis
Ramírez Gómez, which is synonymised with C. saliceti. The occurrence of two colour
races is reported for C. ambigua, and differences are discussed between C. intermedia
and the closely related species C. abdominalis and C. ambigua. Based on the study of
parts of the a holotype, Cacopsylla picta (Foerster
, 1848) is recognised as senior synonym of Cacopsylla costalis
(Flor, 1861). The 17 Central and West European
Cacopsylla spp. associated with Salix are listed with synonyms, distributions and host
plants. SEM pictures are provided of the parameres of 11 species of the saliceti group.
Vít S. & Hlaváč P. 1997.
Euconnus (subg.Tetramelus) from Caucasus and Turkey (Coleoptera: Scydmaenidae).
Entomol. Probl. 28 (2): 95-103.
Five new species of Euconnus subg. Tetramelus are described: E.
abkhazicus and E. bulirschi, from the Georgian Republic in the Caucasus, and
E. ayderinus, E. kaplidjun and E. lazin from the Eastern
Black Sea area in Turkey. All species belong to the same species-group which is well characterised
by features of the aedeagus.
Majzlan O. 1997.
Barypeithes purkynei Fremuth, 1965, a species
of weevil (Coleoptera, Curculionidae) endemic in Slovakia. Entomol. Probl. 28(2): 104.
The species Barypeithes purkynei is one of four endemic species of the genus Barypeithes
living in Slovakia. It is found in the highest zones of the mountains (from 800 - 1300 m above
sea level). Until now it was determined at two localities in the Vtáčnik and Malá Fatra Mts in
central Slovakia. Maximal occurrence was recorded in summer months of July and August.
Hendrich L. 1997.
A new species of cybister Curtis, from the Kakadu National Park in Northern Australia
(Coleoptera: Dytiscidae). Entomol. Probl., 28 (2): 105-108.
Cybister weckerwerthi sp nov. is described from the Kakadu National park in the Northern
Territories of Australia. The species is well characterized by its small size, the broad yellow
banded elytra and pronotum and the testaceous scutellum which is unique in the Oriental and
Australian Cybister species known so far. A key to the five Australian species of the
genus is presented. Some details about its habitat are also included.
Shillhammer H. 1997.
Turgiditarsus, a new name for Tumiditarsus
Schillhammer with description of a new species (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae). Entomol.
Probl. 28(2): 109-110.
Tumiditarsus Schillhammer, 1996 (nec
Zajciw, 1961) is replaced by Turgiditarsus
nom. nov. and a new species is described: Turgiditarsus kodadai (E. Malaysia: Sabah).
Jäch M. A. & Boukal D. S.
1997. The genus Hedyselmis Hinton (Coleoptera:
Elmidae). Entomol. Probl., 28 (2): 111-116.
The genus Hedyselmis Hinton (Elmidae) is
redescribed and its phylogenetical position is discussed. Hedyselmis gibbosus sp. nov. is
described.
Zettel H. 1997.
Notes on Helotrephidae (Insecta: Heteroptera) from Borneo, with descriptions of two
new species of the genera Fischerotrephes and Trephotomas. Entomol.
Probl., 28(2): 117-126.
Fischerotrephes maryatiae sp.nov. and Trephotomas insulanus sp.nov. (both
from Sabah, Malaysia) are described as new. This represents the first record of the Southeast
Asian genus Trephotomas Papánek, Štys &
Tonner, 1988, from the Malay Archipelago. Idiotrephes chinai
Lundblad, 1933, is newly recorded from Borneo;
the identity of this species is discussed, and a lectotype is designated. New records of
Distotrephes (Polhemotrephes) heveli
Polhemus, 1990, and D. (P.) sarawakensis
Zettel, 1995, are presented from Sabah. The male of
D. heveli is described for the first time. Specimens of a possibly undescribed
Distotrephes species from Sarawak are treated. The type locality of Fischerotrephes
maryatiae sp.nov. in the Danum Valley is described in detail.
Olejníček J. & Kozánek M.
1997. Systenus slovaki sp. nov. (Diptera, Dolichopodidae) from Korea.
Entomol. Probl. 28(2): 127-129.
Systenus slovaki sp. nov. is described from North Korea. The new species should be well
distinguished from all the world known species of the genus by the shape of the arista and by the
dark field in the wing. A key to Asian species of the genus is given as well as the checklist of
world species.
Buck M., Menzel F. & Rudzinski H.-G.
1997. Necrophage Trauermücken (Diptera, Sciaridae): Ergebnisse aus Zuchtversuchen mit
freilandexponierten Ködern nebst Anmerkungen zur Taxonomie.
Entomol. Probl. 28(2): 131-139.
Necrophagous sciarid flies (Diptera, Sciaridae): results of rearing experiments with field-exposed
baits including taxonomic remarks. Rearing experiments were conducted in the vicinity of Ulm
(Germany) using baits and samples of decaying matter collected in the field. Thirteen types of
substrates consisted of vertebrate, mollusc and insect carrion (9 types), rotten plant material
(3 types) and fungi (1 type). 3869 adult Sciaridae belonging to nine species in four genera emerged
from these substrates. Corynoptera blanda
(Winnertz) and Lycoriella castanescens
(Lengersdorf) dominated in terms of numbers of
colonized samples. L. cellaris
(Lengersdorf) yielded the highest
number of specimens. Most recorded species are eurytopic saprophages which are not specifically
related to carrion. The larvae probably feed on fungal mycelia and preferably colonize carrion in
an advanced stage of decay. Females of Corynoptera blanda and Lycoriella cellaris
are described for the first time and detailed redescriptions of the males are given.
Neto L. & Pintureau B. 1997.
Review of the genus Mirufens Girault
(Hym.: Trichogrammatidae). Entomol. Probl. 28(2): 141-148.
The genus Mirufens comprises 14 species which were listed. Its division in two sub-genera,
poorly limited, was reconsidered. A modification of this division and a new sub-genus,
Pseudotrachocera, were proposed. The study of new material led to the recognition and
description of the male of one species (only known by females). Characteristics of two new species
from Asia were also supplied; but these two species, named M. sp.1 and M. sp. 2,
were not formally described because of limited material. A synthesis of data concerning the
geographical distribution (essentially in Asia) and hosts (Homoptera) of the genus Mirufens
was carried out. Finally, a key for both females and males of all species was elaborated.
Barták M. 1997.
Rhamphomyia (Diptera, Empididae) from Korea, with descriptions of new
species. Entomol. Probl. 28(2): 149-154.
The first information about the genus Rhamphomyia from Korea is given. Four species are
described as new: Rhamphomyia koreana sp. nov., R. kozaneki sp. nov., R.
ryongaksanensis sp. nov., and R. slovaki sp. nov. Five species are recorded from
this country for the first time: R. flavipes
Matsumura, R. fulvirostris
Saigusa, R. grammoptera
Frey, R. lucidula
Zetterstedt, and
R. setulosa Saigusa.
Brown B.V. 1997.
The undescribed male of Beckerina sinefurca
Borgmeier and the
recognition of Neotropical Beckerina (Diptera: Phoridae).
Entomol. Probl. 28(2): 155-158.
The previously unknown, and structurally unusual male of Beckerina sinefurca
Borgmeier is described. Unlike
all other known Beckerina species, the male of B. sinefurca has flagellomere 1
greatly elongate and apically narrowed. This characteristic will not allow male specimens of this
species to be identified in the latest key to world phorid genera. Many other Neotropical
Beckerina similarly will not key properly but can by recognized using the diagnosis given here.
